What is the origin of Black Friday ?

November 21st, 2013

blackAccording to various sources, the term Black Friday was first used to describe the shopping day after Thanksgiving on November 29, 1975. It was not all because of big deals or sale but at that time it took large retailers until that point in the year to start making money, break even, or get “into the black” with their numbers. Thus, Black Friday was born.

After many years, the phrase went viral and retailers began to take advantage of the hype and cool name by offering sales to try to draw in holiday shoppers. It clicked and it became a yearly ritual for many people – hunting for sales the day after Thanksgiving. Then the retailers noticed this, loved it, and started offering more sales.

Today it became more and more crazier and one could say it is out of control. Are you ready for   this Friday ?
